Episode 23: Knives Out

You’re not much of a detective, are you? Well, to be fair, you make a pretty lousy murderer. Samuel Lewis of The Samcast Network joins us to talk about the movie Knives Out and this movie is a recent pick and a departure of a typical Cinemavention movie selection. Why exactly are we covering this recent of a movie? Plus, political conversations are involved in this movie, is it a calculated risk to include this in the movie? And Sam has added this movie to his list of favorite movie universes, he explains why this is a big deal.

Episode 22: McLintock!

I am NOT intoxicated…yet! We are joined by Clyde Harvey from The VOD Squad and Diamond Club Movie Party to talk about the movie McLintock and Clyde and Willie have a discussion about whether this movie has aged well and how it dealt with stereotypes and political correctness and Clyde makes the case for why it’s appropriate and why no one should be offended while watching this movie. However, there is one character that we both agree is the villain of the story. Plus, John Wayne wanted to make a statement with this movie and we talk about how the character George McLintock and John Wayne the actor have a lot in common and George doesn’t give his inheritance to his daughter Becky, but there’s a very special reason why.

Episode 21: Fight Club Part 2

Watch Part 1 first!

Self improvement is masturbation. We’re back again with Kent Fellure from the Ritual Misery podcast to continue our conversation about the movie Fight Club and this time we talk about a mental disorder called dissociative identity disorder and how the Narrator and Tyler Durden exhibit similar behavior and why that’s important to the story. Plus, Kent only has one critique of this movie and it’s the ending scene and how it’s executed (no pun intended), and we conclude Project Mayhem is a terrorist organization that wants to blow up credit card company buildings to erase everyone’s debts, how realistic is this plan?

Episode 20: Fight Club

Bob has bitch tits. Kent Fellure from the Ritual Misery podcast joins us once again to talk about the cult classic Fight Club and we try and figure out why the Narrator is upset about Marla doing the exact same thing he’s doing and going to support groups, is Marla calling the Narrator’s hypocrisy? Plus, what is the real reason why Fight Club exists, is it because the Narrator is tired of his office job? And there’s surprisingly only one scene that dates the movie, but moments later the movie inherently predicts the future. We explain how.
