Episode 43: Halloween (1978)

S**t! I have a place for that. Stephanie Cafferty makes a triumphant return to the show to talk about the movie Halloween and whether continuity is the Achilles’ heel of this entire movie. Plus, find out why Willie’s major problems with the movie all have to do with Annie, but it’s not the character herself and Michael Myers gets his eye poked by both a knitting needle and a coat hanger and he gets shot so many times yet still survives, is Michael Myers superhuman?

Episode 42: Saw

First dead body I’ve ever seen. Look different in real life. They don’t move. Samuel Lewis of The Samcast Network is here and he’s never seen the movie Saw before but there’s a good reason why, he’s representing a movie watcher who doesn’t usually like watching horror films and it’s Willie’s job to convince him to watch it. This movie was a controversial pick to discuss on Cinemavention and we will be spoiling this movie like we always do, but it’s highly encouraged for you to listen to this episode even if you haven’t seen the movie and especially if you’re hesitant to watch it. Willie breaks down the entire movie for Sam and we discuss whether the trailer is an accurate portrayal of this movie. Plus, we are joined by a roundtable of guests who joined the watch party for this film to give their thoughts about the movie and what if Saw is not even a horror film at all and instead is a who-done-it film or a murder mystery film instead?

Episode 41: The Evil Dead (1981)

Look! I’m getting out! I don’t care what happens to her…I’m getting the hell out of here. Regular Game Night contributor Brian Kofford is back with us again to talk about the movie The Evil Dead. In this episode, Willie discusses his problems with the lack of a telephone to call the police or even the lack of an alternate road to get to the latest town to call for help, but Brian explains how this movie is actually more believable than horror films today. Plus, did you know that this movie was supposed to be filmed in Michigan and the crew almost got hypothermia in the Tennessee cabin they did end up choosing for the film location and is it better to watch Evil Dead II before The Evil Dead?

If you wanna waste your life…then you can just drop fucking dead. *thud* Regular Game Night contributor Dolan Moles is back to begin our spooky month of movies, beginning with Final Destination. Did you know that this movie was originally written as an X-Files episode? Was it a mistake to stretch a TV episode into a full length feature film instead? Plus, an alternate ending seems to suggest that Alex and Clear were supposed to end up together but we discuss why that doesn’t belong in this movie and there’s questions about the order of who dies in the movie, but was Alex even supposed to die at all in the first place?
